Hi there.
I'm Lisa Perkins, a web/graphic designer living in New York City. First the basics: I have a MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons and a BFA in Graphic Design from Hampton University. I'm currently working as an Art Director at an ad agency. Before that I spent a few years as a Senior Designer on a retainer account and have worked in the past on installations, textiles, catalogs, invites, websites and lots of emails, banners and promotional material.
With that out of the way, I can tell you a few things that I think matter:
I love design. I feel priviledged to be able to bring ideas to life with design; online, on the printed page, and on store shelves, in galleries and in peoples’ homes. Quite simply, I love to make pretty things, with my hands (knitting, sewing, sketching, baking), with a computer (catalogs, websites, invitations, software, drawings). Design is the one constant passion in my life. It is a powerful method for solving problems, for seeing the world in a different way. I'm obsessed with details. Of everything. I believe the simplest solution is often the best. I'm a workaholic, constantly trying to find balance. But I love the grind.
I bake when I can't sleep. I run when I can't think. And when all else fails I clean, and clean, and clean some more. I laugh. A lot. A large part of me imagines a second career creating my own hand-sewn clothing line and selling it in a shop by the sea.
Poke around through my work or view my resume to see what I'm up to, and of course, feel free to if you'd like.
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon.
